When you run Windows8-UpgradeAssistant eventually you get to a point where you are asked some questions : Choose what to keep: 1. Windows settings, personal files and apps 2. Just personal files 3. Nothing I chose 3 because I didn't want to keep anything. You are also asked: Install Windows 8 1. Install now 2. Install by creating media 3. Install later from your desktop I chose option 1, because I wanted to install now.

What I had to do to sort this out was: 1. I happen to have a work laptop also 3. When asked 'Choose what to keep', choose 3 4.
