Agee revealed in spectacular detail what many had feared about the CIA's actions, but he also outed and endangered hundreds of agents.

Agee relentlessly opposed the CIA and the regimes it backed, whether in America or around the world. In Jonathan Stevenson's words, Agee became "one of history's successful viruses: undeniably effective and impossible to kill. Deckard Cain made his way across the floor, following the footprints to an alcove in the far wall. Rotted boards clung to supports, the last remains of an ancient library. This had been a ritual chamber, many centuries before, used to summon things from beyond the human world.

A portal to the Burning Hells themselves, perhaps. The shelves were empty now. He saw a speck of yellow underneath a splinter of wood and bent to pick up a corner of parchment paper, curled and speckled with mildew. Something moved in the shadows to his right. He whirled, holding the light up. For a moment it appeared as if the shadows themselves were alive, bunching and swirling like ink in water.

At the same time, a voice like the distant moan of wind drifted through the empty room and raised the hairs on the back of his neck. A whispered voice calling to him, just like this. He backed away, fumbling in his rucksack with one hand, holding the lighted staff with the other against the darkness.

Already he was doubting himself: had it just been the wind moving through the broken remains of the building above him, a trick his mind had played after so long in the sun? The voice came again, a sound like bones scraping together in the grave. Once again a pool of black smoke thickened and then dissipated, only to reassemble somewhere else: a shape carrying a sword, the form of a man, but with eyes that glowed red with the fires of hell. Cain knew what this was, yanked from the depths of his own mind and used against him: the image of the Dark Wanderer himself, conjured up to weaken his resolve.

The smoke-shape swirled and shifted, reforming into two indistinct human shapes, one taller and clearly female, one small and delicate. He closed his eyes against the darkness as the yawning pit of despair opened within him, threatening to pull him in. You must not listen. But that was many years ago. Now all of their collected history, tactics, and wisdom lie within the aged hands of one man.

A man who is growing concerned. Dark whisperings have begun to fill the air, tales of ancient evil stirring, rumblings of a demonic invasion set to tear the land apart. Amid the mounting dread, Deckard Cain uncovers startling new information that could bring about the salvation—or ruin—of the mortal world: other remnants of the Horadrim still exist.

He must unravel where they have been and why they are hiding from one of their own. As Cain searches for the lost members of his order, he is thrust into an alliance with an unlikely ally: Leah, an eight-year-old girl feared by many to carry a diabolical curse.

Knaak set in Blizzard Entertainment's popular video game universe, Warcraft. This book was great for me because I love the lore, and I'm not picky whatsoever. While I may be generous on the rating, I thought it was only fair, yet I still have mixed feelings about this book. First off, I have nothing against this author at all. I thought his writing style was well suited. Yes there may have been a few times where he over embellished a sentence, but it never stopped me from reading on.

The book takes place way before the wars between Orcs and Humans. Our story takes place I didn't expect amazing writing from a Warcraft novel, but no one could really predict just how terrible this is. The first thing you'll notice is that the writing style is atrocious.

Most sentences are structured awkwardly for the sake of pseudo-sophistication - the most pretentious hack move out there. The prose is as purple as it gets. Don't expect a single noun without a minimum of two repetitive adjectives; don't expect a verb not to be padded with unnecessary description.

The style of 'tell My sister said: Don't waste your time with the Warcraft Novels! They are poorly written fan-fiction of a game No game novels are worth reading. Including Assassin's Creed! I am well aware of that. I know they are poorly written, but here's the thing. If I do not start now to read them, I will never I've been meaning to for the past 3 years and just couldn't find the method to.

And by method I mean the thoughtful pondering of the fact that I have to read 20 novels and a lot of sh I've been a casual player of World of Warcraft since , and have spent my fair share of time in that 'world' questing, flying around, farming, running dungeons, battling pets, etc.

Over time, though, it just wasn't enough to just roam around the world doing stuff. I really wanted to know the lore - the history of everything, the backgrounds of the characters I was playing. So I started picking up the novels And fun is all I think they are really meant to be. I gue In the game much of the history is told but not in details. The player either ignores the lore or goes and research about it some other way. The book introduces the reader to Krasus and Rhonin who were summoned to investigate a strange phenomenon.

It's a fun and informative read for fans of the game - you see plenty of game characters fleshed out, and by the end of the first book you'll know them better. The book starts a little slow, setting up the main characters and settings, but quickly picks up pace.
